After a traumatic incident during his internship, young medical student James Hayman (Namir Smallwood) moves to a rural hospital to start a new life. Noticing that James is struggling and having difficulty connecting with patients, Dr. Harrison (stage and film veteran Michael Potts) offers a lecture focusing on bedside manners and building deeper relationships with patients. The demons of James’ past begin to catch up with him when he takes on the case of a young asthmatic patient (Sidney Flanigan, ALWAYS, NEVER) with mysterious symptoms. His grip on reality begins to weaken as disturbing nightmares, anxiety-inducing speculations and physical injuries collide with the brutal realities of the medical world. Director Alex Thompson assembles an ensemble of seasoned character actors for this sequel to SAINT FRANCES – and THE LIGHT OF THE SPIRIT’s predecessor – presenting a humanistic and unconventional take on the genre.
